Benzene from China can get into Amur river today. At present moment toxic spot is 30 km from Russian frontier. The head of Ministry of Emergency Sergey Shoigu flew to Habarovsk to check preparedness of all emergency services. By words of experts, the length of the spot is more than 180 km by now. It moves with speed of 1.5 km/h. Therefore, polluted waters will reach Amur today or on Friday, the latest date. As a reminder, on December 11 representatives of Russia and Chinese People`s Republic signed program of mutual monitoring of Amur waters` quality. The document was signed by chairman of regional parliament, minister of natural resources Gennady Pocherevin and director of international cooperation department of the Chinese head administration over environmental protection Sui Zinhua. This document determines dislocation of water monitoring posts and method of water tests. By reports of Chinese side, Sungari waters contain only benzene and nitrobenzene, other dangerous compounds have not been revealed.
