Film distribution results of 2005 are reviewed in Russia. The main result is that Russian block-busters have taken confident leadership. There are five Russian movies in the Top Ten 2005. Five Russian hits have received $64,3 million, while their American competitors’ box office receipts have constituted $39,8 million. The most successful Russian movies "9th troop" and "Turkish gambit" beat Hollywood pictures. However, other Russian films (over 50) appeared in 2005, failed to gather one third of the sum received by the leaders. The Top Ten 2005, except "9th troop" and "Turkish gambit", entered "State Counselor" (7th position, $7,4 million), "Shadow-boxing" (8; 7,2), "Men’s season. Velvet revolution" (9; 6,6). The most box-office receipts were gained by "Star wars. Episode 3" (3d position, $9,4 million), "War of the Worlds" (4; 9,4), "Mr and Mrs Smith" (5; 7,8), "Madagaskar" (6, 7,8), "Meet the Fockers" (10; 5,7).
