Textbooks with covers, portraying map of Russia without Kurile Islands and Kaliningradskaya oblast, are withdrawn from school libraries of Sakhalin. Sakhalin authorities get rid of "anti-Russian materials" by own initiative. It is also planned to give special talks to Sakhalin pupils about territorial integrity of Russia. The measure was caused by scandal with training school-books (author rights belong to "Intellect-center" and Russian Ministry of education and science) for preparation to united state examination in 13 subjects. Delegates of Sakhalin have noticed that there are no Kurile Islands and Kalinigradskaya oblast on Russian map, illustrated at covers of school-books. They sent in a special application "About anti-Russian activity of Russian Ministry of education" to premier Mikhail Fradkov, several federal ministries and State Duma. Sakhalin citizens considered that the matter concerns "an intentional exclusion of territories from map, inurement of future generation to "cut" structure of Russia and transfer of Russian frontier territories to neighboring states". Ministry of education and science promised citizens of the island "to pay more attention to publishing school manuals". This reply satisfied Sakhalin citizens and regional administration decided to establish the order by own needs. The head of Federal inspection service in sphere of education Viktor Bolotov announced that claims of Sakhalin authorities are groundless. "School-book doesn`t discriminate Russian sovereignty, - assured he. - Map of Russia on cover is just a sketch. There are Kurile Islands and their description inside of the book".
