Chechnya`s chief expert in narcology, psychiatrist Musa Dalsayev diagnosed children’s mass illness to be pseudo-asthmatic syndrome of psychogenic nature. "I`m a psychiatrist, and I can say that the clinical presentation we observe doesn’t correspond to any form of poisoning or some other substance affection, which could bring about such phenomena, but corresponds to psyche symptoms ", said Dalsayev to the journalists in Grozny. "I`m not saying that children have psychosis", underlined he. "It`s a psychological response, which appears in the form of physical symptoms, corresponding to no disease" According to the physician, there are no substances or poisons affecting exclusively girls. "We are reasoning from the information we have and put the clinical diagnosis", noted Dalsayev. "I`m not saying that children have mental disease. I`m against such an interpretation. We are talking about reaction", emphasized he once again. "As soon as mass-media stop compressing the situation, and demonstrate children`s condition on TV, the situation will settle down." Dalsayev also informed, that similar symptoms were observed in one of the USA schools, being produced by the fear of bioterrorism. Earlier, Chechnya’s prosecutor-general Valery Kuznetsov declared that children`s illness was not connected with toxic or chemical substances effect. "There is no toxicological or chemical poisoning observed. Children’s symptoms are not connected to these substances affect ", said Kuznetsov. Psychogenic factor, provoking the illness, came to the first place, informed the prosecutor. According to him, people have been exposed to psycho-traumatic effects during several years, this version proves the fact that most affected are women and girls, prone to emotional effects more than men.
