Christmas church services took place today in all Catholic temples of Russia. In Moscow Catholic Cathedral on Malaya Gruzinskaya street the service was read by archbishop Tadeush Kondrusevich. During solemn mass in Moscow Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception the head of Russian Catholics congratulated all believers with Merry Christmas. "Joy of current holiday lies in light of the truth, enlightening the darkness of the sin. From moment of birth the Christ aimed to stay in history of every person", - said the archbishop. He emphasized that every believer needs to remember about spiritual component of the holiday. "We must pay attention not to miss as the Christ enters our souls", - said the hierarch. Majority of parishioners are representatives of diplomatic departments and also emigrants from Poland, Germany, Spain. By data of Ministry of Justice, about 250 Catholic communities and organizations are registered on territory of Russia at present moment. Before revolution of 1917 there were about 150 Catholic parishes and about 500 thousands believers. Along with Catholics and Lutherans Christmas by Gregorian calendar is celebrated by Anglicans, Baptists and Pentecosts. The day before Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Aleksey II congratulated the heads of Christian churches, who celebrate the Christmas by Western style.
