New, last during current year negotiations on gas problem will start in Moscow on Wednesday. The negotiator has changed: Ukrainian minister of fuel and energy Ivan Plachkov will come to Moscow instead of premier Yurii Ehanurov. The day before Plachkov performed speech at round table in Kiev. He stated that Ukraine is ready to pay $80 per thousand of cubic meter of Russian gas with rate for transportation being $1.75 (now $1.09) in first quarter of 2006. Moreover, Plachkov announced that both sides are not ready for immediate transfer to market economy and this process will end only by 2009. He also noticed that Russia agrees with such position. Russian side responded immediately. Firstly, Plachkov`s words were disproved by "Gazprom" representatives and then the head of Russian Ministry of industrial power engineering Victor Hristenko commented the situation: "Russian suggestions follows a simple and clear demand - refusal from any forms of barter transactions. Russia wants both deals - gas supply to Ukraine and transit of European gas through Ukrainian territory - to be based on market economics. Another statement about technical unavailability of Russian side for market economics is also contrary to facts. We don`t need any technical preparations except readiness to count, pay and receive funds for work honestly". "Russia has suggested Ukraine to pay $220-230 per thousand of cubic meters of gas and has no other suggestions", - repeated Hristenko. In case an agreement is not reached, Gazprom is ready to cut off gas supply to Ukraine.
