Third open championship for valenki (Russian traditional winter footwear) throwing over Caucasian Mineral Waters region took place in Pyatigorsk park named after Kirov.
As organizers of championship informed "number of persons wishing to throw valenki increases every year. And results improve. Though it should be mentioned that valenki often fly opposite direction to where it has been thrown. The difficulty lies in specific aerodynamic peculiarities of the footwear - as a result valenki not always fly along the set trajectory. Moreover, powerful snowfall worsened the preciseness of flight this year".
The strongest valenki thrower became Gennady Kapustyansky. Valenok flew for 42 meters after his athletic sweep.
