Leader of Russian rock-group DDT Yuri Shevchuk considers that London festival "Russian winter" helps Western people to learn modern Russian culture better. "I think western audience don`t have a clear idea of modern Russian art. They know Grand Theatre, Kirovsky Theatre (Soviet name of Mariinsky theatre), know boublik, balalaika, matreshka but not modern art", - said Shevshuk in conversation with Russian journalists during the festival. As example he demonstrated almost complete absence of modern Russian music in music stores of West. "Why there is no Russian music in Paris or London, anywhere. This is not the way it should be", - emotionally noted he. "Russia has something to say to the world and Europe. We have many talents, not only rock-musicians but art, theatre, cinema", - thinks Shevchuk. "This festival is a movement to better. Not many people think about Russia in artistic and not only in political sense". Group "DDT" performed as one of headliners of second festival "Russian winter" on Trafalgar square on January 14. As representative of London administration informed about 75 thousands people visited Russian festival by 17:00 p.m. (Greenwich time). Police didn`t register any serious incidents or breaches of peace.
