On Sunday before final stage of "Dakar-2006" rally organizers of the race announced that in the view of tragic events of 2 last days, when 2 boys died under wheels of competing automobiles, last special route will not be timed. Participants will drive 110 km around Pink lake but their position in race will not change. Therefore, crew of Russian "KamAZ" under leadership of Vladimir Chagin can be de-facto considered the winner of "Dakar" rally in class of lorries. Second place remain after Dutch Han Stacey, and last year`s winner of rally-raid Russian Firdaus Kabirov took 3 place this time. Winner of race in class of automobiles became French Luke Alfan, and first place among motorcyclists took Spanish Mark Koma.
