Frost in Central region is getting harder. As Russian hydrometeorological service informed, temperature has fallen till -28-30 degrees centigrade in Moscow. By afternoon frost will weaken to 26-28 below zero in the capital, -25-30 over the region. According to forecast, nebulosity will be low all day. The weather is sunny, without snow. The speed of cold north-east wind will not exceed 2-5 m/s. The lowest temperature in the capital is expected on Thursday, January 19, when Orthodox believers celebrate holiday of Epiphany. On night from January 18 to January 19 temperature will fall to -28 in capital and -35 in near-Moscow. Guards near Tomb of the Unknown Warrior will relieve not once per hour, as usually, but once per half an hour not to freeze. They were allowed to wear full uniform (very warm sheepskin coat), but prohibited to change boots for valenki. Last time such frost was registered in winter of 1978-79, when temperature fell to -40 degrees centigrade. Traffic inspectors recommend strongly to refrain from driving of personal automobiles in the city. Many motor-car enthusiasts followed the advice and main highways became sufficiently free. There were no serious emergences registered in capital yesterday. Moscow power engineering specialists cancelled regime of power energy limitation at 8:00 p.m. after evening load-peak was over. Total limitations don`t exceed 2% from energy supply of the city. Objects of small retail trade - tents, newspaper kiosks - were closed in East and Central districts of Moscow.
