Import of Russian electricity to Georgia was interrupted as a result of breakdown at high-voltage "Kavkasioni" line in Karachai-Cherkessk republic. This was informed by Georgian energy service. About 100 megawatt of Russian electricity (about 6% of Georgian consumable volume) is imported through "Kavkasioni" electric main. It became known later that high-voltage line was damaged as a result of prop undermining near Karachaevsk. As press-service of Russian Emeregency Ministry center in Southern region informed, explosion happened at 11:50 by Moscow time. The details are being specified. Electricians and operative group of Russian Emergency Ministry work at place of accident. Georgian ministry of fuel and energy decided to import electric energy from Turkey. Press-service informed that Russian power outage and breakdown of gas-main pipeline caused stoppage of 3-d and 9-th energy block of TbilGRES, and deficit of 500 megawatts at electric energy market. At present moment Georgia is provided with 220 megawatts of Russian electricity through "Salkhinovo" electric main. Deficit of electric energy is covered by interior reserves of Georgian hydroelectric power stations. Representative of ministry emphasized that "there are no problems of electric energy supply to population. We will get additional electric energy from Turkey within several hours". Moreover, Georgian ministry of fuel and energy and Tbilisi energy distributing company TELASI execute treaty for additional electric energy purchase from Azerbaijan. Georgia will get addition electric energy from Azerbaijan by Sunday evening. As a reminder, Russian gas supplies to Georgia were cut off in the morning of January 22 as a result of "North Caucasus-Transcaucasia" and "Mozdok-Tbilisi" gas-main pipeline`s undermining.
