Karimov gives Miller new Uzbek gas fields
On the forthcoming summit EuroAsES in St. Petersburg on January 25 "Gasprom" and the company "Uzbekneftegas" are to sign two agreements on cooperation in Uzbekistan oil and gas complex with total amount of about 1,5 billion dollars.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov informed about it just before his flight to Russia. according to his words, Tashkent and "Gasprom" has "perspective projects" and in St. Petersburg "we will settle all questions of our cooperation, there we are to sign two serious documents".
President also informed, that first of all the agreement about geological survey works on plateau Ustyurt. The second agreement touches on six recently discovered oil and gas fields development in Uzbekistan.
""Gasprom" is to assign $1,5 billion for these two projects development", explained Karimov.
In December 2002 "Gasprom" and "Uzbekneftegas" signed an agreement about strategic cooperation in gas industry. The agreement provides for long term purchase of Uzbek gas in the period of 2003-2012, participation of "Gasprom" in natural gas production projects on the territory of Uzbekistan, as well as cooperation in the field of gas transport infrastructure of Uzbekistan, and gas transportation from Central Asia by the territory of the republic.
Uzbekistan takes the second position in gas production among of the CIS countries and enters a top ten of gas producing countries.
Earlier, there appeared information that in the course of "Gasprom" head Aleksey Miller’s visit to Tashkent, the engagement was entered about Uzbek gas supply to Russia in the amount of 9 billion cubic meters of gas at the price of $60/ a thousand cubic meters.
