Premier-ministers of Hungary and Croatia are first European countries, which signed memorandum about cooperation in energy sphere. One of the goals of the document is decrease of countries` dependence from Russian gas supplies.
"Both countries are interested in creation of new, alternative routes of gas supplies", - announced premier-minister of Croatia Ivo Sanader.
Reduction of Russian gas supplies through Ukraine has led to activation of efforts in search for alternative sources.
One of the discussed possibilities is a construction of the terminal for North African liquefied gas reception on Croat seaside of Adriatic Sea with further supplies to Hungary.
This project will be introduced to Croat government the next week. Sanader estimated the cost of terminal`s construction as 1 milliard euros.
"Other European countries, Slovakia and Austria in particular, can join the project if the don`t want to depend on Russian or Ukrainian problems", - said premier-minister.
Hungary exports 1.5 milliards cubic meters of gas to Croatia annually.
