Festive meeting dedicated to the Day of shipbuilding foundation in Russia is held today on Admiralteistvo quay near the monument to Tsar-Carpenter. The action is held on the initiative of the Sea Council attached to St.Petersburg Government, reported the press-service of Governor`s Administration. The organizers of the meeting are "Youth sea council of St.Petersburg", Fund "Sea education", North-West department of the fund "Centre of Russian National Glory". The heads of universities and high schools of ship building educational establishments, students, cadets and representatives of shipbuilding companies participate in the meeting. This event starts the month of events aimed to arouse interest to professions of shipbuilding industry among pupils of the city. Schoolchildren are to visit educational establishments, to have excursions at shipbuilding facilities of the city. On February 18 , the contest of professional skills among students of professional colleges is to be held. On January 28, 1698 Peter I received license of shipbuilding carpenter - the first professional certificate of ship-builder in Russia.
