The court has returned Oleg Sherbinsky guilty of traffic violation, which has led to death of Altai governor Mikhail Evdokimov. Sherbinsky was sentenced to 4 years of deprivation of liberty in colony-settlement. "Sherbinsky committed criminal negligence. He had an opportunity to prevent the collision. The guilt of Sherbinsky is proven by cumulative evidence", - judge Galina Sheglovskaya proclaimed the verdict. Mikhail Evdokimov died in automobile crash on August 7 of 2005. At highway Biisk-Barnaul "Mersedes" of Evdokimov collided with "Toyota" of Sherbinsky and crashed to the tree. Along with governor the driver and security guard died. Evdokomov`s wife has got serious traumas. During trial prosecutor of Altai krai Alexander Kochergin demanded to sentence Sherbinsky to 5 years of imprisonment in colony-settlement. Nevertheless, the prisoner at the bar has denied any charges. Lawyers of Sherbinsky said that the main cause of the traffic accident was driving of governor`s car at high speed. In their opinion the defendant had no time to avoid the collision. Prosecution asserted that crashed "Mersedes" moved at speed of 149 km/h. But witnesses of the crime testified that the car moved with speed of about 200 km/h. Russian General Office of Prosecutor over Siberian region has established that "Toyita" driver didn`t make way for governor`s automobile, which was equipped with rotating beacon and hasd a priority on the road. Sherbinsky was accused according to article 264, part 3 of Criminal Code.
