Russia lowered to 21-st position in world rating of inventions
World organization of intellectual property has proclaimed rating of countries, which patented inventions in 2005. As usual leading position belongs to USA. Japan takes second place for second year in a row. Russia holds 21-st position with number of inventions reduced by almost 20% comparing with year of 2004.

Number of patents received by citizens of different countries in 2005 resulted in about 134000 - this is the record for all history of WIPO. Citizens of Japan, South Korea and China contributed much to setting up of a new record.
USA leads with large advantage for many years - Americans patented 34300 inventions in 2005. Japan swiftly increases its advantage over third position, which is held by Germany.
France left Great Britain behind this year and occupied 4-th position. South Korea demonstrated unexpected progress and jumped to 6-th place from last year`s 8-th position. It is followed by Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and China. The part of other countries in total number of patents is less than 5%.
Russia has applied only for 425 patents this year, which is 100 less than previous result. Therefore, we didn`t get even to first twenty of the countries, which includes India, Canada and Australia despite of other European countries. Number of patents applied through Internet has increased sharply this year - 27% of total amount.
