Russian Federal Service for State Statistics published the data about Consumer Price Index in January 2006. According to the document, the average cost of minimum foodstuff set in Russia at the end of January constituted 1406,7 rubles, which is 4,3 % more than in December 2005. The most expensive foodstuff set appeared to be in Chukot Autonomous Area, constituting 4390,4 rubles. The second and third position gas taken Kamchatka and Magadan regions (2475 and 2347,3 rubles correspondingly). The cheapest foodstuff sets are in Kursk region (1169,9 rubles), and in Chuvshia and Tatarstan (1183,9 and 1194,8 rubles correspondingly) In Moscow foodstuff set at the end of January constituted 1719,1 rubles and increased during a month for 5,2 %, in St. Petersburg - 1482,3 rebles and increased 2,1%. Inflation, with appropriate season correction and excluding secondary factors constituted 0,8 % in January. Fruit and vegetable grew more expensive most of all provisions. For example, cabbage became 22,6 % more expensive, the price growth for onion and potato exceeded 15 %. Among nonfoods fuel (apart from gasoline) rose in price more than everything else - for 6,2% and firewood (for 6,3 %)
