A lumber-man from Alpayevsky district of Sverdlovsk region has become a hero of numerous TV reports and newspaper articles. When working in the wood Sergei Tambovsky was attacked by three hungry wolves. Having kept his head, the man dealt with beasts of prey with his chainsaw "Taiga" "I felt the blow on the back. I turned back and saw a wolf, I ran a bit away. It bit through the skin on my leg. I ran, but he kept following me. Me and my mate start off to our boxes, and the wolf tried to bite me again. It was about to jump on me, so hungry he was. I pointed the saw on hem and switched on. He was dead in a moment," said Sergei Tambovsky. The saw stroke fell on the beast`s spinal column, the animal died immediately. To other wolves ran away, however one of them got under the wheels of the car, which was taken the lumber-men home that evening. "It is very rare, when a wolf attacks a man working with a chainsaw, and at the daytime", the man was perplexed. Wolves` bodies were taken to veterinary clinic to test for hydrophobia. "You see, what the weather was, severe frost, animals were starving. Usually they are aggressive, and here it had strength only to bite", thinks Mikhail Pidzhakov, the chief of veterinary station in Alpayevsk. "Cold and hunger made animals to go opout from the wood to the road, and then to piece of woodland. It was the last chance to survive and animals lost fear".
