The unification of the Kamchatka district and Koryakskiy autonomous area must end by the end of 2006 says the plenipotentiary of the President in the Far-Eastern federal region Kamil Ishakov. "The process of the unification of the Kamchatka district and Koryakskiy autonomous area must be speed up" and the creation of Kamchatka territory must occur by the end of this year he said. "78% of voices were given on the referendum for the unification of two regions. The attendance totaled 58%; it means that the people of two regions want to be united. And that’s why it is necessary to quicken unifying procedures for the organs of authority. From the fastest creation of Kamchatka territory there will be only benefit to people living in the Kamchatka peninsula" quoted the words of Ishakov his press- secretary Yevgeniy Anoshin. Concerning the questions of the social and economic development of the region plenipotentiary noted that the geothermal possibilities for the needs of agriculture and power engineering in Kamchatka are used weakly. In the opinion of plenipotentiary the use of possibilities of geothermal energy will contribute to an increase in the harvest of agricultural production in the hot-houses of the region. On Saturday, 18 February, Ishakov intended to visit Mutnovskiy geothermal station where the steam-water mixture of the Mutnovskiy volcano is used for obtaining the fuel. Under the conditions of market this nontraditional energy source becomes worthy alternative of expensive coal and fuel mazut, bringing to the peninsula. On Saturday the plenipotentiary met with the representatives of the national communities of Kamchatka. On the results of the meeting he reported that the house of friendship of peoples and ethnographical center will be built in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka. Ishakov noted that more than 100 nationalities live in Kamchatka district, 15 national communities are registered. Their representatives have the capability to study native language and to organize meetings, creative evenings he added. Also Sunday schools with the study of languages and traditions of Korean and Jewish peoples work in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka and Yelizovo city. "In this wonderful corner of the globe there must be the place for all cultures of all nationalities" said Ishakov.
