Unjustified agiotage demand for salt, which was registered in several Russian regions last days, starts to decline. This was confirmed by international Confederation of consumers` society. By its data, "there are no real economic prerequisites for salt deficit" because reserves are rather high both in Russia and countries of CIS. Deputy chief of Duma Comission on agrarian issues Nikolai Haritonov considers that "the only cause of agiotage may be problems with salt transportation". Agiotage for salt reduces from west to the east, therefore repeats the route of salt supplies from Ukraine. Experts name another factor: Russians of elder generation remember sharpest deficit for popular goods and react immediately on any unjustified rumors about possible shortage. State Duma inquired Russian government about causes of sharp rise of prices for salt and sugar and measures taken not to allow unjustified overpricing of goods of first necessity. By information of Ukrainian Agrarian Ministry, Ukraine has twice increased salt export to Russia - to 35 coaches per day. This decision was made by request of Russian side in the view of increase in demand. In 2005 Ukraine supplied 1.97 million tons of salt, which is 252 thousand tons more than in 2004.
