He recalled that on 4 August the head of Russian foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov has sent an official appeal to the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, the ICRC with a call to organize an international humanitarian mission.
Churkin stressed that Russia is ready for "maximum transparency" convoys. "Let the ICRC is monitoring the loading of convoys, accompanies them throughout the journey and manages the distribution of aid to those in need", - quotes the diplomat ITAR-TASS. He said that according to estimates of the Russian Federation, the inhabitants of the East of Ukraine is needed first of food, medicine and medical equipment, system of water purification, generators". With all this, the situation in the region, especially in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Vitaly Churkin described as "catastrophic" by "any human standards".
