Russian newspapers put forward various versions of the accident and report strange details of the murder, which is not connected with professional activity of the journalist by statements of investigators. The body of journalist was found by colleagues the next day after Ilya didn`t come to work and answered no telephone calls. They found that the door was open and journalist was laying prone on the floor. Doctors diagnosed craniocerebral trauma of the back of the head. It is most likely that journalist was killed by blow with heavy object. Office of Public Prosecutpor instituted proceedings according to article 111, part 4 of Criminal Code "voluntary infliction of harm to health followed by death". As officers of the criminal investigation department noted, it is most likely that Zimin let the killer in the flat - there are no traces of breaking in. Journalist was killed during struggle. Neighbors heard nothing (by tentative data, Zimin died in the morning). Concierge didn`t help the investigative group either - old woman didn`t notice any suspicious persons. By another data the concierge is an important witness. She said that 3 strangers came to Ilya Zimin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. They demonstrated policeman identity cards and left within an hour. According to the same source, the night before death Ilya Zimin spent in night club and returned home at 2:00 a.m. Bottle of vodka and cut grapefruit was found in the flat. It is hard to say if any valuables are missing. Nevertheless, law machinery doesn`t consider versions of burglary or professional career as main ones. Zimin was the author and TV presenter of documentary films of "Latest history" cycle. He was a laureate of "TEFI-2002" contest in nomination "Best TV reporter".
