On Sunday, March 5, automobile traffic will be limited in Moscow center during carnival procession on the occasion of Shrovetide. Carnival procession "Shrovetide in Moscow" will follow from Triumph square to Vasilievsky Spusk. From 14:30 to 17:30 the automobile traffic will be limited along Tverskaya, Okhotny Ryad, Varvarka, Teatralnaya streets, Teatralniy pass, Ilinsky spusk and Vasilivsky spusk, on Lubyanka square. Capital automobile traffic inspection asks drivers to choose bypass routes ahead and observe directions of road signs and instructions of policemen. Carnival procession crowns Pancake week, which started on February 27. Symbolic burning of the Shrovetide scarecrow will happen at the end of carnival with use of light effects. The last day of Pancake week before beginning of Great Post, which starts on Monday and lasts for 7 weeks, is called Sunday of Forgiveness. Today Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Aleksey II will serve Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour at 9:30 by Moscow time and celebrate vespers with Forgiveness liturgy at 17:00 by Moscow time.
