Fowling in Russia will be prohibited this year because of the threat of bird flu spread, the Russian Federation chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onischenko reported on Tuesday. "We are going to prohibit fowling this year, and all measures for interaction with birds will be limited to frightening them off from the inhibited places and locations of battery farms", he said. Onishchenko has reminded that cases of bird flu have been already registered in nine subjects of the Russian Federation. "Though season has just begun. Bird has not yet come to Syberia, Ural, i.e. to the places of its usual nesting ", said Onishchenko, making speech at the forum "On the hygiene and the sanitation "DDD-2006". According to him, the international classification of World Health Organization recognizes "the world to be at the first stage of pandemic, and Russia to be at the second stage of inter-pandemic period, which means, that we, fortunately, do not have circulation of the virus among people". The chief sanitary inspector has reminded that in the world since 2003 there have been 175 cases of development of bird flu among people registered, and 94 people died. "There is going to be very difficult, but very interesting from a professional point of view summer for us", noted Onischenko.
