The OSCE in Ukraine welcomes the intention to increase the number of observers
Special monitoring mission of the OSCE in Ukraine welcomes the intention to increase the number of observers in this country, said Deputy head of mission of the BBC.

The OSCE permanent Council on 12 March decided to extend the mandate of the SMM OSCE in Ukraine until March 31, 2016 and to increase the maximum possible number of observers to thousands of people.

"We welcome the flexibility of the participating countries (OSCE), which is ready to increase the number of observers in the country to a thousand, if that will demand the circumstances", he said.

According to the Deputy hmm OSCE, at the present time in Ukraine from mission work 460 OSCE observers and more than 200 Ukrainians. Just there are 713 workers, including international observers and local employees. Observers represented in more than 40 countries-members of the OSCE, they are located in 10 offices throughout Ukraine, said hug.

Hmm OSCE was established on March 21, 2014 with the largest number of five hundred observers, who are required to be located in 10 cities of Ukraine. The OSCE reported that to date, the mission has exceeded the number of 400 observers, 350 of observers working in the East of Ukraine, where they are responsible for monitoring the cease-fire and verification of the withdrawal of heavy weapons. As reported by sources in the OSCE, in the period of consultation on the extension of the mandate have been suggestions about the combination of civil and military nature of the mission, however, the final decision still remain civil SMM characteristics.
