SOCAR, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, addressed Gazprom (Russia) asking whether it wants to buy Azeri natural gas.

As APA news agency was told at the SOCAR gas operations unit, according to the SOCAR statement to Russia, the Azerbaijani natural gas is proposed to Gazprom at the price of $230 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Since 2000, Azerbaijan imported 4-4.5 bln cubic meters of gas annually. However, in connection with raising of the price for the Russian gas, Azerbaijan refused to import it and starting from January 1, 2007, Russian gas import to Azerbaijan was suspended.
