Poroshenko nourishes the hope that Sarkozy made a mistake in their own statements about Crimea
Victoria Ivanova. The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko holds out hope that the former head of France Nicolas Sarkozy made a mistake, acknowledging legitimate referendum in Crimea.

Poroshenko, who visited Switzerland yesterday, arrived in the French capital on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon he met with President Francois Hollande. The meeting addressed issues of bilateral relations, and discussed the situation in Ukraine.

Crimea and Sevastopol became the Russian regions after the 16 March 2014 referendum in which the overwhelming majority of voters voted for reunification with Russia. The head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that the referendum in Crimea complies with international law and the UN Charter.
