The Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine is opposed to the increase of purchase prices of coal for power companies because it would increase the cost of electricity to customers, informs a press-service of Department on the last working day of the week.

According to the head of the national regulator in the energy sector Dmitry Vovk, quoted by the press service of the Ministry, the increase in the price of coal for power companies, as required by protesting miners in Kiev, will lead to higher electricity prices.

Energy holding DTEK, the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, had previously stated that such an increase will provide an opportunity to Express support for the coal industry, which lost government subsidies, to supply fuel for the plant and ensure stable power supply to customers. Holding stress that the current cost of coal in the amount of 1100 UAH (about 48, $ 99) per ton does not cover the cost of production and leads to the underfunding of the industry.

According to wolf, the rising prices of coal will affect the electricity tariff."
