First Deputy PM stands for defense industry development Russia`s acting First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov has stressed the need to meet the increasing demands of the fuel and energy industry using the research and production capacity of the defense industry.

It was said in the opening of a travel meeting of the governmental defense commission in Khanty-Mansiysk. Apart from its needs, the fuel industry commands growing resources, while the defense industry lacks investment for diversification. The proposed approach will help to eliminate the gap between the design and development for the fuel industry and implementation of new technology, alongside giving an impetus to the defense industry`s expansion.

At the initial stage, the scope of hi-tech equipment for the fuel industry that can be produced at defense enterprises should be outlined, and after that a comprehensive target program should be worked out.
