Matvienko: punishment against Russia has not achieved its goal
Punishment against Russia ineffective as a means of pressure has not reached its goal, Russia gets more and more signals from Western partners about the necessity of the repeal, told reporters on Wednesday the head of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

"We need to finish these sentences, which did not achieve any goals. They did not improve the situation in Ukraine. They did not and never will force the Russian Federation to change our fundamental attitudes to change our position, " - said Matvienko.

She added that sanctions against Russia gave additional impetus to the development of their production and import substitution, as well as a more active development of relations with other countries and regions that did not support punishment against Russia.

"We've heard Today and in the European Union, more and more voices and different points of view on this matter. A number of European countries have already openly about the dangers of punishment for their economies. Today I go the signals from the capital of the United States, and let us hope that common sense eventually prevails, and from the language of ultimatums and blackmail, We turn to the language of dialogue, " - said Matvienko.
