The head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov commented on the corruption scandal in the International football Federation (FIFA). Version Lavrov, the aim was failure of elections of the President of the organization and not attempt to take away the world Cup from Russia.

"Everything was planned so as to disrupt the elections of the President of FIFA, and I don't think anyone was targeting football championship in Russia in 2018. For anybody not a secret that we supported Blatter during the voting and did not try to hide this fact, like most of the FIFA Executive Committee" - quoted Lavrov "R-Sport".

On the question of the correspondent from the United States on cooperation of the Russian side with the investigation of corruption in FIFA Lavrov said that if Swiss or American law enforcement officers want to talk to the Minister of sport Vitaly Mutko, "they must make a formal request, and then the decision will be for the attorney General".
