Japan solidarity with other G7 countries on sanctions concerning Russia
Xenia Naka. Japan adheres to the joint positions with other G7 countries on the issue of sanctions with respect to Russia, said on Thursday the official representative of the MFA of Japan at the beginning of visit of Prime Minister Abe to Germany, where he will participate in the G7 summit.

"Japan's position is the same as that of the other G7 countries. We demand the importance of solidarity with the countries of the group on the subject. We have taken steps in the past year in connection with the Crimea. If the situation continues without change, We will continue these measures. If the situation deteriorates, We will have to think again about measures. If the situation gets better, We will think about it in a different direction. Of course, subject to discussion with other countries, " said Commissioner of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

Prime Minister of Japan will participate in the summit of the G7 countries in Germany, where he arrived after his visit to Kiev, where he will meet with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and other officials. At the meetings in Germany will be examined problems of the economy, geopolitics, including the situation in Ukraine, the problems of global climate change, international policy, the fight against crime. Japan will host the next summit in 2016.

Shinzo Abe will fly from Japan to Kiev on the last working day of the week and will return home after the G7 summit on Tuesday.


Western countries since March 2014 several times already imposed penalties because Russia's position on Ukraine. The last case of the use of such practices were the limits imposed in March 2015, when expanded sanctions List of the USA.
