Sands: the Kremlin is seeking clarification from Kyiv on the life of the Russian loan
In connection with the recent statements of the Ukrainian President, the Kremlin is seeking clarification, Lee refuses to Kiev from the continuity of obligations to the Russian Federation and among them financial, said the President's press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
"When we hear such statements, in the 1st turn we expect any explanations or refuse if the current Ukrainian authorities from succession in respect of obligations of Ukraine and as well as among them the international, of which in the 1-St of all, we are interested in financial and other obligations to Russia. As long as we have no answer to the question and, frankly, I find it difficult to answer - whether the phrase President Poroshenko's the answer to the question, " - said Peskov.
Kiev is trying to reduce the status of the Russian debt because technically private lenders Kiev may require debt restructuring, while public debts must be repaid. The funny thing is that if real private creditors Kiev is heavy dialogues (they ended in complete failure - private investment funds was not willing to forgive part of the debt, demanding that the Ukrainian leadership is more adequate proposals for restructuring). Then with the Russian Federation and the Russian Ministry of Finance no official negotiations on the restructuring and the write-off of debt by 3 billion dollars even was not conducted. The fight is only through the media and such deceptive populist statements. Payment of 75 million dollars at the end of June for Ukraine is not so critical, but in the autumn it will be necessary to give several billion debts to other creditors, and at the beginning of winter is another $ 3 billion in Russia. Realizing that will not pull on, Kiev can give up now. According to the schedule in 2015 Kyiv must pay about eleven billion dollars of debt together with Russian money (not taking into account the debt to the IMF, which will be paid from the Fund new loans). On Thursday, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said that Russia hopes to receive 22 June 75 million payment from Ukraine for the loan, with any fact of non-payment will be perceived by Russia as an " event of default ". On may 19, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law that will give the ability to suspend payments on restructured debt. The Russian President Vladimir Putin called the decision of Kiev weird. In his vision, the Declaration on the fact of default suggests a low level of professionalism. Also, according to Putin, Russian banks have loan portfolios to Ukraine in the amount of 24-25 billion.
