The mission of Germany, Greece and Italy will check the sky over Russia
The joint mission of Germany, Greece and Italy will carry out observation flight over Russia from June 29 to July 3, informs the head of the Russian Center for reducing nuclear threat Sergei Ryzhkov.

"in the framework of implementation of the international Treaty on open skies in the period from 29 June to 3 July 2015, a Joint mission of Germany, Greece and Italy will carry out observation flight over the territory of the Russian Federation on the Hungarian plane of observation An-262 ", - is informed in the report.

Russian Experts in the cabin of the ship will be kept under control by strict adherence to the route of the mission and the use of the contractual instrument. The observation plane is not equipped with weapons mounted on it observation equipment have passed the international certification, which eliminates the use of technical means, not provided for by the Treaty on open skies.

The Treaty on open skies was signed in 1992 and became one of the measures to strengthen confidence in the European Union after the Cold war. It's been around since 2002 and allows the participating countries to openly collect information about military forces and activities of one another. The Contract includes the vast number of NATO countries, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and neutral Sweden and Finland. Usually the flights Russia and NATO countries are conducted on a reciprocal basis.
