The state Department welcomed the law on local self-government in the Donbass
The US administration welcomed the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt the Law on local self-government in the areas of Donbass, said on Thursday the official authorized state Department, John Kirby.

"We welcome the adoption of the law on decentralization of power in the regions," said Kirby.

He said that this step will help the cooperation of Ukraine with the international monetary Fund (IMF), as well as the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. Kirby also tried to convince the militia to meet its obligations.

The proposed amendments provide that the Special status of Donbass will be determined by a separate legislative act. The law on local government in areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions was first adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, however, for its entry into force it is necessary the implementation of a number of conditions. For example, prescribes that certain areas of Donbass beyond the control of Kiev, will be endowed with a special status only after the local elections according to the laws of Ukraine and under the supervision of international observers. The law also reported to to allow elections need a withdrawal of all illegal armed groups and military equipment from the territory of the country. A special procedure is introduced for a time, for a period of 3 years from the date of entry into force of this law.

The Parliament of Ukraine at a meeting on Thursday sent a presidential draft changes to the Constitution to decentralize power to the examination to the constitutional court (CC) of the country.
