Russia placed 53.13 billion roubles of temporarily free budget cash in short-term deposits in commercial banks at an auction at an average rate of 8.04 percent, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said demand at this Tuesday`s auction stood at 53.13 billion roubles while the cut-off interest rate was 8.00 percent. A total of 60 billion roubles had been on offer.

In the previous auction on Aug. 26, the ministry placed around 21 billion roubles at a weighted average rate of 8.06 percent.
