Found the most distant from Earth in the galaxy Astrologers have found the most distant from Earth, the galaxy, which is at a distance of more than 13 billion light-years away. She received the designation EGSY8p7.

In order to find the age of a distant galaxy, scientists used infrared spectrometer MOSFIRE at Keck Observatory in Hawaii, which has managed to register a so-called line of Lyman-alpha in its range. According to the professionals, the inhabitants of the Earth "see" her as she was after only 585 million years after the Big Bang.

"Every day we watch the line of the Lyman-alpha in the range of nearby objects, it is considered to be one of the surest signs of star formation. But during the whole time, as we move deeper into the Universe and, consequently, observed her in the earlier stages, the space between galaxies is filled all the large number of hydrogen clouds that eat this signal" - quoted by TASS report of astrophysicists at the California scientific and technical University.

According to researchers, the main thing in their study that they were able to register the line Lyman-alpha in the spectrum of the galaxy. According to theoretical calculations, the universe was opaque to such radiation 1st 400 million years due to the fact that it was filled with neutral hydrogen. Then gradually, as the emergence of the first galaxies the radiation of the stars began to split neutral hydrogen into protons and electrons.

Scientists imply that this process is uniform: the emerging galaxy turned hydrogen in ionized plasma, the ionized areas expanded and superimposed on each other. Registration line Lyman-alpha from the galaxy EGSY8p7 allows scientists to say that around some galaxies were ionized hydrogen earlier than around the other. It is likely, due to the fact that ionizing radiation of stars in these galaxies were particularly strong.
