Vladimir Putin is richer than Dmitry Medvedev Russia?s President Dmitry Medvedev told the fiscal service of his income that he had received last year. The president earned 4.139.726 ($125,000) rubles at his primary job. The president and his wife, Svetlana Medvedev, own a flat. Dmitry Medvedev has nine bank accounts in Russian Federation banks which hold 2.818.780 ($85,000) rubles in total. The president also owns a 4,700-square-meter plot of land under lease, Interfax reports.

The Medvedevs did not have any relevant changes in their family in comparison with the previous year. The average income of the head of state last year amounted to 146,000 rubles ($4,500) a month. They still live in the same apartment and still own the same land. However, the money on their bank accounts has grown: the family had 2.740.000 ($80,000) rubles last year.

Svetlana Medvedev has one bank account in Russia in the total sum of 135,144.05 rubles. She owns a Volkswagen Golf of 1999.

Dmitry Medvedev?s wages look quite indistinctive against the incomes of other world leaders. For example, Medvedev makes four times as less as his US counterpart Barack Obama, who earns $400,000 a year.

The Prime Minister of Ireland Bryan Cohen receives 257,000 euros a year, French President Nicolas Sarkozy - 240,000 euros, German Chancellor Angela Merkel - 228,000 euros, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown makes 199,000 euros a year.

The Russian president signed a federal law in December 2008 to compel the prime minister, vice premiers and federal ministers to submit their income records, as well as the records of their family members, to tax authorities. On March 10, 2009, Medvedev stated at a session of the Anti-Corruption Council that the head of state would have similar responsibilities too. The president said that he would submit his income records to tax authorities himself.

The income of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin from January 1 to December 31, 2008, made up 4.622,000 rubles at his primary job. His military pension made up 100,600 rubles.

Putin owns a 77 square-meter flat and a plot of land (1,500 meters). He owns two vehicles GAZ M-21 (1960 and 1965).

Putin also owns 230 shares of St. Petersburg Bank. His wife, Lyudmila Putin, did not receive any income during the accounting period.
