Wine and chocolate will slow down Alzheimer Researchers have learned that with the development of Alzheimer's disease you can fight not only with the help of pharmaceuticals. Competition the medicines may make red wine and chocolate.

Scientists have named a products that contain resveratrol - a substance that can slow the development of Alzheimer's disease. Professionals suggest that you drink red wine and eat dark chocolate, red grapes and other fruits, according to Science Alert.

Scott Turner of Georgetown Institute in Washington and his colleagues conducted a study involving 119 patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease in mild and moderate form. Some patients were given resveratrol, and the other received a placebo. The participants in the experiment were constantly taken for analysis of cerebrospinal fluid, among other things they did an MRI of the brain.

The result at placebo level clear beta-amyloid in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid fell, and consumed the resveratrol remained almost unchanged. Note that the main reason of development of Alzheimer's disease is the formation of brain plaques of a protein called beta-amyloid.

However, it is not necessary to run for a wine and chocolate. Is patients were given resveratrol in its pure form. For healing diseases need to take up to 2 grams of the drug per day - much is contained in a thousand bottles of red wine.

However researchers have reported that the beneficial and negative effects of resveratrol are not known. "This is a small study with findings that require further research for the purpose of proper interpretation. Reduced Abeta40 is considered as dementia, it aggravates the human condition and helps to ensure that Alzheimer's disease progresses. And yet we cannot conclude from this study that the results of treatment with resveratrol positive," warned Scott Turner.
