The elected Chairman of the UN General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft officially opened the jubilee 70 th session at the headquarters of the world organization in new York. After the opening ceremony, traditionally there was a moment of silent prayer and meditation.

traditionally one of the main events of the General Assembly session will be at a high level, which will be held from 28 September to 3 October. The upcoming General debate will be one of the most visited by the number of leaders.

before the UN published the provisional list of speakers for the General policy debate. According to the document, about 90 countries will be represented at the level of heads of countries, among them Russia, USA, China, Brazil, Ukraine, Yemen, Iran, Libya, Palestine, Israel, the Netherlands, France, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Belarus, Latvia and Serbia.
