NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" hopes before the end of September to sign a new contract on gas with Russia based on market prices, said on the last working day of the week the head of the organization Andrey Kobelev.

"Diversification of source of supply has been extremely positive effect on the positions of our Russian partners, who began to offer other approaches, and more than the market price. They are much more flexible now to Ukraine, as to the consumer. We have again started to watch the commercial market, " - said Kobolyev.

on Wednesday the head of "Gazprom" Alexey Miller said that the Russian gas company has agreed with Ukraine all the important bilateral issues on gas supplies from Russia." Gazprom " expects that the agreement With the participation of the European Commission will be signed in the upcoming week and gas supplies from Russia prepaid will resume on October 1.

Miller noted that in the next few days "Naftogaz of Ukraine" will turn to "Gazprom" for the discount in terms of customs duties, and, as it was in previous periods, Gazprom will send proposals to the Government of the Russian Federation. The level of prices to be comparable and competitive with Ukraine's neighbouring countries of the European Union. Thus "Gazprom" will refrain from the rule of "take-or-pay" the next two quarters.

After another unsuccessful tripartite gas talks on 30 June Ukraine has suspended the purchase of gas from Russia to agree on the terms of delivery and currently receives gas only in reverse from Europe. At the same time Ukraine is actively seeking funds for the purchase of gas for injection into underground storage facilities for the coming winter. According to various estimates, the country ought to accumulate in their own UGS about 19 billion cubic meters of gas.
