Former Russia goalkeeper stopped at airport over alimony debt Alexander Filimonov, a former goalkeeper for the Russian football team, has been prevented from leaving the country over unpaid maintenance to his ex-wife and children, court bailiffs said.

The 35-year-old footballer, who plays for Lokomotiv Tashkent, was stopped at Moscow`s Domodedovo airport on Sunday, while attempting to check in for a flight to Uzbekistan.

An official at the federal bailiff`s service told RIA Novosti that Filimonov will not be allowed to leave the country until he has paid 707,000 rubles ($22,000) in alimony to his ex-wife and two daughters.

The ex-wife has sued him over his refusal to pay.

Filimonov is best known for his time at Spartak Moscow in the late 1990s. He earned 16 caps for the national team from 1998 to 2002. His career took a downturn in 2000 when he fumbled a seemingly innocuous free kick during the closing minutes of a vital match against Ukraine. The goal eliminated Russia from the Euro 2000 qualifiers.
