"Attention was drawn to a number of disturbing trends with the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots in Ukraine and in the Baltic States, the most given the lack of substantial progress in the destruction of statelessness," adds Mead.

The meeting participants outlined a number of measures to improve the protection of the rights of Russian citizens and compatriots. For example, there are measures to strengthen the relevant work in international fora, including the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, to build up interaction with international and domestic NGOs, support Russian language media abroad.
