Man in Odessa, had to remove a ribbon
Activists at the Kiev district court in Odessa forced the man to remove the St. George ribbon tied to his backpack.
the incident happened on September 24. Gathered near the building, noticing the ribbon lashed out at the man with demands to remove from the backpack. The man indignantly asked: "why Is that?" and shouted: "You in Ukraine!", accusing him of provocation. VIDEO



This is not the 1st similar case in Ukraine. 10 may was announced about the beating of the inhabitant of the Dnepropetrovsk area, walked on may 9 in Lviv with St. George's ribbon on his chest. On 9 may the Deputy of the Lvov regional Council from the nationalist party "Freedom" Joseph Sytnyk tore a ribbon from a pensioner who came to lay flowers to the memorial. In April the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the meeting of the government tried to convince in the process of festive events on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Victory Day to abandon St. George ribbons in favor of a red poppy. After the change of power in Ukraine in February 2014, Crimea became part of Russia and the beginning of protests against the new government in the South-East of Ukraine St. George's ribbon has become in these regions a symbol of supporters of federalization and joining Russia. Supporters of the current Kiev authorities are ribbon in the negative and it is often called "Colorado" because, in their vision, the colors of St. George ribbon is similar to the coloration of the Colorado potato beetle.
