The head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini and the foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov at a meeting in new York on Tuesday discussed the need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements, most noting in this regard the forthcoming local elections in Ukraine, according to a communiqu? of the European external action service (EBU).

The meeting between Lavrov and Mogherini took place on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in new York. By results of negotiations of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation said that the meeting discussed the main issues of relations between Russia and the EU, as well as the situation in Ukraine and the middle East.

"Mogherini and Minister Lavrov discussed the situation in Eastern Ukraine and the need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements, most focusing on local elections," said the EMU.

The self-proclaimed authorities LNR have appointed local elections on November 1, but in DND they are required to pass on 18 October. While the Ukrainian Government has appointed elections to local authorities on 25 October.
