Moldova insists on the withdrawal from Transdniestria of Russian peacekeepers
Moldova insists on the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria and the creation of an international civilian mission, said the Prime Minister of the Republic Valery Sagittarius, speaking on Wednesday at the UN General Assembly.

"We reiterate its firm position with regard to urgent requirements on the withdrawal of Russian troops and armaments from the territory of the Republic of Moldova in compliance with the provision of the Constitution of Moldova and in Accordance with international obligations ", - said the Prime Minister.

He expressed the hope that the international community will affect the acceleration of the process of resolving the conflict in Transnistria.

Sagittarius drew attention that the Russian peacekeeping operation has completed its mandate, for that reason she must be transformed into a civil mission under international mandate.

in October marks the 23rd anniversary since the beginning of the peacekeeping operation in Transnistria. World in conflict area support 402 Russian soldiers, 492 Transnistrian, 355 Moldovan and 10 military observers from Ukraine. Service peacekeepers are fifteen stationary posts and checkpoints, which are placed on key points of the safety zone.

Transnistria, 60% of the inhabitants are Russians and Ukrainians, sought to secede from Moldova even before the destruction of the USSR, fearing that on the wave of nationalism Moldova will join Romania. In 1992, after the failed attempt of the authorities of Moldova force to solve the problem, Transnistria was in fact not controlled by the Chisinau area.
