In the OSCE we hope to use the law on transparency of media of Ukraine
Authorized the OSCE representative on freedom of the media Dunja Mijatovic hopes for effective application signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko law on the transparency of the media, according to a press release, issued on Thursday.

according to mijatovi?'s office, amendments to the law, which on September 10 was signed by Poroshenko, require broadcasting organizations and service providers to disclose detailed data on the ownership structure and the final beneficiaries. The law also prohibits business entities and natural persons, registered in offshore zones, to install and to own broadcast companies and service providers.

"Preventing undue concentration of ownership in media and full transparency of media regulation are important prerequisites of media pluralism and freedom of expression in a democratic state," given in the message words Mijatovic.

She added that believes that " these legislative measures will be effectively implemented, to help diversity and editorial independence of all Ukrainian mass media ".

The amendments begin to operate on 1 October. Mijatovic added that her Office will oversee the implementation of the law, and is ready to offer appropriate expert meeting.
