Rada has legalized the service of foreigners in the Ukrainian army
The Verkhovna Rada at a meeting on Tuesday adopted a law that allows foreigners to serve under the contract in armed forces of Ukraine.
The Decision on Tuesday was supported by 229 MPs with the necessary minimum of 226 votes. The document shall be signed by the head of Ukraine. It is planned that it will take effect from the day following the day of its promulgation in the official media, reports RIA " Novosti ".
simultaneously, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted in the first reading the draft law on simplified procedure for the provision of the citizenship of Ukraine to foreigners and stateless persons who are performing military service in Ukrainian armed forces. The decision about this at the meeting of Rada on Tuesday was supported by 246 MPs with the necessary minimum of 226 votes. The document must undergo a second reading. In the explanatory note reminds that, for example, in the French foreign Legion to the service under the agreement allowed citizens of foreign countries, after three years of service can get them of French nationality. According to applicable Ukrainian laws, the procedure in Ukraine is not provided. The conditions of acceptance of the Ukrainian citizenship is continuous residence in the country for five years and a permit for emigration." The draft law proposes to prepare ahead of time, foreigners and stateless persons, as determined by the legislation of Ukraine, performing military service under the contract in armed forces of Ukraine, the period of continuous residence in the territory of Ukraine is established not five, and 3 years since the entry into force of the contract for service ", ? is written in the explanatory paper to the document. According to the law, the need to obtain a permit for emigration will not extend to aliens and stateless persons who undergo military service in the armed forces of Ukraine.
