Microsoft will build a "Yandex" in Windows 10 Microsoft decided to make their own OSes Windows 10 is more beautiful for English-speaking users. On all PCs sold in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, the built-in Microsoft Bing search will be replaced with the much more common "Yandex".

In this version of Windows 10 "Yandex" will be the starting page and default search engine embedded in regular browsers - Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge. The OS, remember, is available free of charge to all owners of legal copies of Windows 7, and Windows 8 who decide to upgrade it within one year from the date of issue (29 July 2015).

In the scope of the agreement between Microsoft and Yandex, the Russian search engine will create a special page, which tells users about where specialised version of Windows 10, what are its advantages and main features. There will be a hyperlink to download and install the new OS. In addition, "Yandex" will launch a multi-purpose (i.e. working on both PC and on smartphones with Windows 10) Windows-based applications for information retrieval, orientation and navigation, music, taxi, maps and product search.

Remember, previously, such a partnership, Microsoft has signed in China with the largest in the country the search engine Baidu. It is indisputable that in markets where search is dominated by local players, the IT giant does not test special illusions about the prospects for personal search engine Bing and is ready to integrate into the OS "alien" search in order to increase the attractiveness of their own OSes.

Microsoft and Yandex in the presence of long experience of similar cooperation - search and other services of the Russian companies are included in realized in Russia phones on the Windows Phone platform. However, the "move" favorites of the market, especially outside of the economical segment, this partnership with Microsoft didn't help.

"Yandex" is the most famous search engine in Runet with a share of 57.4 percent (Bing only 0.8%, data LieInternet for September 2015), the rest of the market belongs mainly Google (34.9 per cent). With all this, lately the share of Google is increasing, mainly through the fame of Android smartphones, where a Google search is built into the system, and the share of "Yandex" gradually decreases.

Note that on Windows 10 in Russia now employs only about 2% of the PC connected to the Web. 25% are on Windows 7, but 6.5% on Windows 8. The leader is released nearly 14 years ago Windows XP, which is no longer supported by Microsoft and is not part of the free upgrade to Windows 10.
