NASA has posted a new selfie of Curiosity Rover The U.S. space Agency (NASA) has published a fresh selfie of Curiosity Rover. Photo composed of 10-s of images produced by the apparatus after completion of drilling of Sandstone in Gale crater.

On the official website of NASA, it is determined that the selfie was created on 6 October 2015 robotic arm Curiosity with the use of one of the 17 cameras the Rover MAHLI (Mars Hand Lens Imager). The device is attached to the robot arm Curiosity, it is intended to get photography of rocks, sand, soil, but can also be applied to other images.

These images were made with the aim of controlling state of Curiosity. Exploring the photos, the scientists concluded that the diameter drilled in the Gale crater hole is 1.6 centimeters, which is easy to calculate in the background the diameter of the wheels of the Rover is 50 cm.

Today, Curiosity is located on the lower slopes of mount sharp, the Central peak of Gale crater. This mountain is considered the highest point of Gale crater, and its height is 5.5 kilometers.

Note that Curiosity has started drilling the eighth of the surface of the red planet on September 29 of this year. The main task of drilling Sandstone - obtaining samples of Martian soil. The Rover is made in next to him a rock hole. The standards of the breed are exploring scientific tools, Chemistry and Mineralogy X-Ray diffractometer and Sample Analysis at Mars.
